Their interpretations are entitled to respect, and their careers are entitled to respect.įurthermore, frankly, her voice has never been particularly STUNNING - It always had a somewhat whingeing, overdramatic quality to it that really comes out in, say, her run with Phantom, but it was serviceable. But, that being said, while she is entitled to respect as a senpai, her co-stars are also worthy of respect. If a younger actress were to talk over her, that would be incredibly disrespectful. As an older actress, she deserves respect, as do her interpretations. I want to see exactly how far the musicals and the characters can be pushed, what changes if you just read a line ONE way VS ANOTHER. I don't buy both casts on DVD because I want to see the exact same interpretation twice, I buy them because I want to see my take on the musical totally CHANGED over the course of watching both. She routinely walks over her co-stars and their interpretations during interviews, acting like her own take is the superior one when it is, simply that: ONE take on the role. (Robbing us of the chance to see whether she had improved since the 2014 Takarazuka run which, from what I've seen in digests, I do believe she did.) She's one of the most famous Japanese musical stars of all time, she doesn't need more spotlight, she has it already, but it isn't enough. What I do judge her for is her, frankly, obsessive need for the spotlight, to the extent of buying out her "rival" actresses' rights to appear on DVDs and CDs, which, to my knowledge, she's done twice: Once to Kaname Ouki in the 1789 CD (you will literally never hear her Antoinette once, despite two CDs being released to highlight BOTH casts), once to Ranno Hana for the 2016 Elisabeth proshot. back then it was nice to have someone to talk to, but now the thought of never getting to talk to you again makes me physically sick. i’m not a liar!! oh and when i learned that you were from poland i was really happy we live in the same time zone (because communicating can be hard otherwise) and pretty much made plans to visit you right away lmfao. also i remember that i made it my mission to make you think better of yourself because every time i complimented you, you were like “not true” skdheajfjwkd. one of the first things you replied with was “that was something i needed to hear (or read i guess)” which is totally something i would say (or write i guess), so i thought we’ll get along great haha. and i felt like you needed someone to talk to because you posted some really heavy stuff. but anyway, first impression, right… so you came off as really awkward and not the smoothest conversationalist but also really funny and that’s why i gathered my courage to reach out because i thought you wouldn’t mind my own awkwardness too much then. i can still recall telling jas that i finally messaged someone (you) lmao. and i never reached out to anyone before you. i remember how jas always talked about the friends she made here, which made me want to join the fandom too. Oh my haha where do i start? do i even remember NOT “knowing” you? i just scrolled all the way up to the start of our conversation here on tumblr which took years (okay i’m exaggerating it took like 3 minutes or so), and i was like “wait we started writing LAST NOVEMBER? so we’ve only known each other half a year?” like that can’t be right, but i guess it’s true.
